That he raised the issues related to human rights agenda, in connection with which it is proposed to move the HRC, said one of the sources of RBC.

Two years ago, 2 December 2016, at a joint meeting of the Council for culture and art and Council for the Russian language Sokurov in his speech, asked Vladimir Putin “to find a solution to the problem” of Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, sentenced to 20 years on charges of terrorism.

“I beg you, find a solution to this problem. It’s impossible. The Director, he needs to fight me at film festivals, if he has another, including the political point of view. What a shame that I have to talk about it”, said Sokurov. The President said in response that “we live in a legal state, and questions of this kind should be dealt with by the judicial system.” “With regard to his work, he is condemned not for creativity, but for the fact that took on completely different functions, according to the courts and investigative bodies, and it actually has dedicated his life to terrorist activities”, – said the President.
